    Scheduled Maintenance:

We are moving to a new data center, and will be moving services and updating DNS in phases, completed by the end of May. Our maintenance window is 9pm PDT on the day listed to 2am PDT the following morning. Down time for any specific server will be minimized by our phased moves, and we will reroute mail when moving the incoming email gateways so we won't reject any email. Status will be reported here if any specific server has unexpected delays or problems. The web server hosting our maing site is not moving or changing at this time, so this web page will be available throughout the move.

IMPORTANT: Our network addresses are all being updated. If you are using host names, such as "secure.prxy.com" under domains that we host or provide DNS, we will make the necessary changes. If you are using numerical addresses, or if you manage your own DNS and have records with our numerical addresses, you will need to make changes. Please see our IP Address Update page.

You may also view live status of our DNS service provided by eNom.

10:00am PST: eNom reports that the DDoS attack is mitigated, and services almost 100% restored.

9:20am PST: eNom DNS is responding again on four of their five servers. Because DNS is distributed, it may still take some time for your local name server to request fresh data again.

9:00am PST: eNom has confirmed a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack caused the DNS problems this morning.

8:30am PST: Our primary DNS service provider, eNom, is experiencing network issues. All sites using our default DNS will either be intermittent or down.

      December 26, 2009

Incoming mail was delayed between 7:46pm and 10:44pm due to a network inteface problem on the Spamblock server. Mail flow is fully restored, and delayed mail should be delivered within one hour.

      December 6, 2009

2:00pm PST: Email programs connecting using POP3 over SSL were being blocked due to a configuration error in the local firewall on the new server. This has been resovled so secure POP3 is working properly.

Upgrade complete 1:39am PST. Actual maintenance downtime 11:21pm to 1:36am.

      December 5, 2009

Scheduled 10:00pm to 3:00am PST: An upgrade is scheduled, affecting customers using secure.prxy.com only.

      Highlights of new features:

      1. Read Receipts -- ability to enable/disable read receipts in the web client.
      2. Filter existing emails -- ability to run email filters over existing emails in your inbox or folders.
      3. Tabbed Email Compose -- enables multitasking by allowing you to compose emails in separate tabs and allows you to switch from composing emails to view/search other emails, access your calendar, etc.
      4. Three Pane Reading View -- optional view in three vertical panes with the reading pane on the right (the current reading pane is at the bottom below the message list)
      5. Remove attachments -- web client allows attachments to be removed from messages, freeing up storage (modified messages sync with Outlook and IMAP clients)
      6. Message scrolling -- may now scroll through messages rather than paging.
      7. Presure based scrolling -- drag an email message over the folder list and it will automatically scroll as you approach the bottom or top of the frame.
      8. New Mobile AJAX UI -- Enhanced mobile web client on par with the full-size version, including access to documents and ability to add/remove tags from emails or briefcase entries.

      Standard/Professional users only:

      1. Calendar Fish-eye View -- from the month view click on a date and zoom to see the calendar entries for that day.
      2. Calendar List View -- See all appointments over a two-week period, and select multiple appointments to act on at once (set in Preferences)

9:42pm PDT: The secure.prxy.com server is properly accessible again.

8:16pm PDT: The secure.prxy.com server is not accepting webmail, POP3, or IMAP connections. We are investigating and will have it available again as soon as possible.

      June 29, 2009

A web server hardware failure took much of the day to repair. All sites are operating as of roughly 12:45am June 30. Until the logins are restored, please contact support to make site updates.

      June 4, 2009

4:12pm PDT - The server upgrade is complete and mail flow should be back to normal.

      June 3, 2009

      * Delays were caused by overloading of incoming mail gateway servers. Some messages are being told "try again later" which requires the sending server to retry. This is standard behavior, but the time to retry varies. An additional server is being added to the incoming cluster to meet demand.

      * We are pursuing mail delays through our incoming gateway servers. We are working to eliminate delays as soon as possible.

      April 4, 2009

11:45am PDT: The email.usermail.net server is back online. A large number of corrupt files were found during the power up tests after the system was moved. We captured and analyzed these files and confirmed that all were from the spam quarrantine except a few that we have delivered to the appropriate inbox. However, to be safe, we archived the backup prior to the move in case anyone finds problems with their own stored email (we plan to hold the archive for at least 60 days).

2:50am PDT: A switch failure during the move caused intermittent problems accessing all services. The switch has been replaced and all servers except those finishing the move should be accessible.

1:45am PDT: A problem with email.usermail.net is being repaired. The server will be back online as soon as repairs are complete.

      April 3, 2009

10:12pm PDT: Scheduled maintenance is beginning as planned. Servers will be moved in small groups. Expected down time per server is under 60 minutes, with most under 30 minutes.

Note that one server (mail.mail-center.com) has been delayed to move Saturday morning.

      March 31, 2009

We are upgrading our data center resources to increase space and improve power redundancy and network diversity. Pending completion of power and network wiring in our new location, we will proceed with the move this Friday.

Maintenance window: 10pm Friday April 3 to 3am Saturday April 4 PDT

Total time unavailable is expected to be 60 minutes or shorter, during that window.

There is no change to any IP addresses or host names during this maintenance period.

      February 2, 2009

10:40am PST: Our network technicians are investigating serious network delays access all of our mail and web services. Updates will be posted here as they are available.

11:35am PST: Network performance has returned to normal. We are continuing monitoring.

      January 31, 2009

Our domain registration partner, eNom, had an outage of their DNS service today between 2pm and 4pm. This impacted all domains using the "default" name servers (dns1/2/3/4.name-services.com). We are working on getting further information and corrective action. (see update below)

We also offer a distributed anycast DNS service for higher reliability, but we are not able to provide direct customer management of domains using that service. Contact support@prxy.com for details.

UPDATE FROM eNom: For a period of hours beginning a Noon PST on Saturday January 31, 2009, a eNom DNS servers were victim to a large Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. This attack affected hosted customers and other services, which rely on our DNS infrastructure. Our DNS regularly handles attack traffic during the normal course of business; however, this attack was particularly large and required additional effort by eNom Operations to counteract it. Services were largely restored by 3:30pm PST. By policy, eNom doesn?t detail the nature of attacks against our infrastructure.

      January 13, 2009

Several servers were affected by a data enter power outage which cut off half the power to our racks. We are working with the data center technicians to determine the cause of the outage. Power has been restored and all services have been verified.

      November 6, 2008

UPDATE: Service has been restored and all mail is flowing normally as of 7am PST.

The remaining storage for mail server mail.prxy.net that was not previously upgraded, began to fail today, so it too needed to be replaced before the weekend. That is being completed overnight.

      November 5, 2008

The mail server mail.prxy.net required unscheduled maintenance overnight to repair a failing disk drive. The remaining array is planned to be upgraded this coming weekend.

      October 3, 2008

UPDATE: October 3, 2008 8:30pm PT -- Unplanned interruptions to domain name resolution are causing some domains to be intermittently unreachable for web and/or email. This is being caused by eNom's scheduled maintenance. We have alerted eNom and they are working to restore name resolution as soon as possible.

      For October 3, 2008

      Routine Maintenance Notice

Scheduled maintenance is being performed by our domain registration partner, eNom, starting at 6 PM PT on Friday, October 3rd, 2008 until Saturday, October 4th at 2 AM PT. They will be conducting maintenance on their database and datacenter, causing the management interface to your domains to be unavailable.

      August 19, 2008

A problem during UPS maintenance at our data center caused a power outage at approximately 12:05AM PDT affecting several of our servers. Most affected systems came back online without delay between 12:30AM and 12:40AM PDT. However, the email.usermail.net server had difficulty starting up again. Please see the Usermail status page for ongoing details.

      Update July 4, 2007

mail.mail-center.com server: In order to eliminate some intermittent disk issues, we've scheduled a disk upgrade for this weekend, Saturday July 5, 2008, starting at 10PM PDT (05:00:00 Sunday July 6, 2008 in GMT). We anticipate taking several hours to complete installation and verify the new disk, but will keep down time to a minimum.
UPDATE July 5: System taken down at 10:03pm PDT.
UPDATE July 5: System back online at 10:39pm PDT. Software upgrades and disk analysis completed without errors. Hardware upgrade deferred due to problems replicating to new hardware.

      Update November 14, 2007

Our domain registration partner, eNom, is performing scheduled maintenance on November 15, 2007, between 8pm and 10pm PST. During that time, email forwarding and web site redirection will be affected.

      Update November 3, 2007

Our domain registration partner, eNom, is performing unscheduled maintenance. You will not be able to register domains or manage existing domains. DNS and other features are operating normally. Please try again shortly.
UPDATE: Maintenance is complete and all domain functions are operating normally.

      Update October 30, 2007

Preventative maintenance on email.usermail.net has been completed on schedule. Actual down time was October 30, 2007 12:07am to 12:19am PDT (12 minutes), with webmail down again from 12:23am to 12:25am PDT (2 minutes). Note that this maintenance had no impact on usermail.com accounts.

      Update October 28, 2007

Preventative maintenance is scheduled on the email.usermail.net server (MX name businessplan.usermail.net) to be performed between 11pm PDT October 29, 2007 and 1am PDT October 30, 2007. Actual down time is expected to be roughly a half hour. Please watch this page for any updates.

      Update October 27, 2007

Accounts on mail.mail-center.com were unavailable from 7:41am to 9:03am PDT.

      Update October 26, 2007

Update 11:15pm PDT: Filters are in place to limit the impact of the denial of service attack (DOS). While we are seeing higher ping times, latency is minimal and there is no packet loss at this time. If you are having difficulty reaching our network from your location, if you know how to create a traceroute, please perform a traceroute to the mail server or web server you are trying to reach and email it to support@prxy.com

Update 10:37pm PDT: Our network technicians have determined that our provider's network is currently experiencing a large denial of service attack and they are working to filter it. Connectivity is intermittent and packet loss good to poor depending on your location.

As of 9:42pm PDT our network technicians are investigating packet loss/network connectivity issues. Connectivity to the USA East and West Coasts and to Europe appears to be the most affected.

      Update October 26, 2007

This morning between roughly 7:40am and 9am PDT, one of our major internet network providers was giving intermittent connectivity to many regions. Though we use a redundant network feed made up of five different providers, any traffic over the primary provider, especially in most of the United States, was intermittent or in some regions completely lost. Please contact support@prxy.com if you would like more detailed information when it is available, or information regarding the corrective action being taken.

      Update October 2, 2007

Earlier today, many IMAP users on the mail.prxy.net server not able to connect. The server reached its connection limit due to a problem with one errant mail program that made several hundred connections. We've updated the system to limit connections per client so a single user can't cause that problem again. Depending on your email program, you may need to force it to connect again, or quit and restart your email program. Resolved 11:17am PDT.

      Update September 6, 2007

      Routine Maintenance Notice

Our domain system will be undergoing routine maintenance on Saturday, September 8, 2007, from 7pm to 11pm PDT (Sunday, September 9, 2007, from 2am to 6am UTC).

During that maintenance period, you will not be able order new domains or transfers, and you will not be able to renew or update existing domains on our system.

DNS will continue to resolve normally and all email and web hosting services will be fully available and operational.

      Update August 20, 2007, 16:52 PDT

The Mail-Center primary mail server is back online and operating properly.

      Update August 20, 2007, 15:18 PDT

The Mail-Center primary mail server and domains with mail accessed through mail.mail-center.com or related domains are unavailable due to a suspected disk error. Mail is being stored on the backup server until the primary server is back online.

      Update August 9, 2007, 12:28pm PDT

Domains are fully resolving. Please discontinue using the numeric links below.

      Update August 9, 2007, 12:01pm PDT

Most domains are now at least partial resolving DNS, so web sites should be accessible again and the numeric links below should no longer be necessary.

      Update August 9, 2007, 10:33am PDT

A denial of service attack is affecting access to all domains which use our domain service DNS.

You may access our domains that use mail server mail.mail-center.com webmail at http://209.177.145.20/

You may access your domain that use mail server mail.mail-center.com webmail at https://209.177.145.20/ (but you will need to accept the security error since the host name does not match the certificate)

You may access mail.prxy.net webmail at http://209.177.145.7/ or securely at https://209.177.145.7/ (but you will need to accept the error, as above)

Service through Usermail.com/.net is not affected.

Detailed current status for Usermail is available on the Usermail Support page.
